I will be installing a Solar Fountain Exhibit at the Children's Natural History Museum, also known as the Math Science Nucleus. This feature will be a solar powered fountain at the entrance to the Museum's Prehistoric Garden. The fountain itself will have a fossil theme to fit in with the rest of the garden, and the solar panel will have a poster explaining the system itself and how solar energy works, made by the scouts who will work with me.
Dr. Joyce Blueford is the founder and owner of the non-profit MS Nucleus. She wants to have a solar feature in her museum so she can more readily show and explain how solar power works to the many summer camps and field trips she hosts. (You can check out her website here!). My personal goals for this project are to teach students in the community the flexibility and accessibility of solar energy - To introduce to further generations the tinkering curiosity necessary to inspire creation. Given, a goal with this scope won't be realized with this project alone, but a change anywhere is a change to be had!
The general dates for construction are September 10th and 11th. I say general because the work schedule is very flexible, and I am willing to cater to schedules. The total volunteer time will be about 5 - 6 hours, spread over 2 days. The construction will take place at the Children's Natural History Museum at 4074 Eggers Drive, Fremont, California. My total fundraising goals is $300, of which I have $200 so far! (Thank you all so much!) And any extra money I receive will go to the MS Nucleus.
